About the position

The Project Coordinator position at the New York State Education Department's Office of Education Policy involves overseeing the administration and implementation of federal education programs funded under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal requirements and effective management of significant federal funds allocated to New York State. The position is temporary and entails a mix of administrative, supervisory, and technical responsibilities related to grant management and program oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Education Program Manager and Supervisors of Education Programs to ensure successful administration and monitoring of GEER and ESSER Programs.
  • Facilitate communication among internal and external grant stakeholders.
  • Update and apply written policies and procedures for program administration and oversight.
  • Conduct monitoring of CARES, CRRSA, and ARP Act programs for compliance with requirements.
  • Maintain and implement monitoring forms and review protocols for grant oversight.
  • Develop data collection tools for reporting elements required by the US Department of Education.
  • Facilitate training for Project Coordinators and Assistants on review and monitoring protocols.
  • Work with partners to develop documents and presentations for various audiences.
  • Manage grant implementation according to federal and State regulations.
  • Track budgets and facilitate procurement processes in coordination with the fiscal team.
  • Ensure collection, analysis, and dissemination of data for grant implementation.
  • Manage administration of grant activities including data reporting and budget administration.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and oversee recordkeeping of grant documents.
  • Serve as a content expert in delivering technical assistance regarding grant implementation.
  • Develop technical assistance resources such as guidance documents and webinars.
  • Collaborate with the Grants Management Unit for efficient processing of grants.
  • Supervise staff responsible for reviewing and tracking grants and monitoring reports.
  • Undertake special assignments as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5 years of specialized experience in educational administration, with over 50% of duties in education finance or fiscal management.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience or 1 year of managerial experience in an educational institution or oversight agency.
