About the position

The Project Coordinator for the Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC) is responsible for leading health promotion initiatives aimed at improving public health outcomes, particularly focusing on preventing childhood lead poisoning in Biddeford, ME. This part-time role involves collaboration with community partners to develop, execute, and assess interventions, while also building a coalition to raise awareness and advocate for policy changes. The position offers flexibility in hours and the potential for full-time work based on funding and interest.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the formation of a stakeholder coalition to identify actionable strategies for preventing childhood lead poisoning and oversee the implementation of these initiatives.
  • Conduct community education and awareness campaigns through training sessions, participation in community events, and speaking engagements.
  • Utilize multimedia channels such as social media, PSAs, and press releases to promote awareness of lead hazards.
  • Work with local town personnel, family-serving organizations, businesses, and other partners to engage stakeholders for community-level environmental change.
  • Advocate for policy development to affect environmental change.
  • Plan and organize events to increase community awareness of Public Health Initiatives.
  • Collaborate with CHCC Director/Staff to develop and design media campaigns and support website/social media accounts.
  • Track activities and complete required reporting monthly/quarterly.
  • Participate in required trainings to maintain expertise and skills.
  • Incorporate cultural responsiveness into all planning and evaluation activities.
  • Prepare and maintain reports, records, and documents pertaining to funding sources using Word & Excel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Public Health, Education, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in community health, policy change, housing issues, or municipal management.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership, community organizing, meeting facilitation, and public relations/public speaking.
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  • Proficiency in Social Media, Web Design, and Graphic Design is advantageous.
  • Ability to develop press releases, design promotional materials, and create presentations.
  • Reliable transportation for local travel and availability for occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with diverse partners, including immigrants, refugees, and families with low income.
  • Knowledge of grant writing and funding sources.
