About the position

The Cognos Project Coordinator at Hilton Grand Vacations is a pivotal role responsible for report development and analytics across various business areas. This position aims to deliver high-quality work promptly, adhering to established standards. The role encompasses report and dashboard development, framework maintenance, and support for both cloud and on-premises environments. The Business Intelligence group, which this position is part of, consists of report developers working within the Cognos environment. This team is tasked with overseeing report development and enhancement, framework development, training, reporting governance, tuning, and certain aspects of data warehousing and Cognos system administration. In this role, the Project Coordinator will need to effectively understand business needs and possess knowledge of relevant data to design reporting solutions that are meaningful and well-structured based on business requirements, standards, and best practices. The position requires excellent organizational and customer-facing skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to high-priority tasks with ease. The Project Coordinator will assist in prioritizing incoming business requests and communicate with stakeholders regarding their information needs. Additionally, the role involves collaboration with business users and IT members, including business analysts and database administrators, to design and develop Cognos reporting capabilities. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for validating results against specified sources, developing and maintaining stored procedures, writing and supporting queries against databases for reporting and validation/unit testing, and providing production support for reporting issues as needed. Training of Cognos software and configuration for other report writers and consumers may also be part of the responsibilities. Experience in report development using the Cognos BI tool is a plus, making this role integral to the success of the Business Intelligence group.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for report development and analytics for all areas of the business.
  • Deliver quality work in a timely fashion consistent with established standards.
  • Develop reports and dashboards, and maintain frameworks for both cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Assist in prioritizing incoming business requests and communicate with stakeholders regarding their information needs.
  • Collaborate with business users and IT members to design and develop Cognos reporting capabilities.
  • Validate results against specified sources to ensure data quality.
  • Develop and maintain stored procedures and write queries against databases for reporting and validation.
  • Provide production support for reporting issues during and outside of business hours as needed.
  • Provide training on Cognos software and configuration to other report writers and consumers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in a related field.
  • 0-3 years of related experience in project coordination or management.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, CAPM) or similar technical fields.
  • Significant experience developing reports in Cognos or other BI tools.
  • Significant SQL experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • History of ensuring tasks are completed on time and following up with team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in unit testing.
  • Familiarity with Cognos Administration.
  • Experience in leading projects and overall project management skills.
