About the position

The Project Coordinator for Communications and Marketing at the Office for Inclusion and Diversity (OID) plays a crucial role in supporting initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the institution. This part-time position involves managing the communications production calendar, preparing for meetings, and coordinating high-level events. The coordinator will work closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing to ensure effective project delivery and collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the OID communications production calendar.
  • Prepare for meetings and presentations with cross-department and campus teams.
  • Coordinate projects such as the Future Faculty Diversity Program and the Faculty Women of Color in the Academy National Conference.
  • Develop contact rosters and conduct web searches.
  • Build databases and write briefs supporting the communications team's work.
  • Draft emails and correspondence as needed.
  • Develop forms and approval processes for various projects.
  • Maintain contact with the Director and provide timely updates on projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and/or professional experience.
  • Extensive organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in higher education, strategic planning, and/or project management.
  • Understanding of marketing and marketing campaign deliverables.
  • Familiarity with working with Virginia Tech campus stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of tools like Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, and Google Forms.
