About the position

The Project Coordinator for Communications and Marketing at Virginia Tech's Office for Inclusion and Diversity (OID) plays a crucial role in supporting the communications team and managing high-level events. This position involves overseeing the OID communications production calendar, preparing for meetings, and coordinating various projects aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion within the institution. The coordinator will work closely with the director and collaborate with other teams to ensure effective communication and project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the OID communications production calendar.
  • Prepare for meetings and presentations with cross-department and campus teams.
  • Coordinate projects such as the Future Faculty Diversity Program and the Faculty Women of Color in the Academy National Conference.
  • Develop contact rosters and conduct web searches.
  • Build databases and write briefs supporting the communications team's work.
  • Draft emails and correspondence as needed.
  • Develop forms and approval processes for various projects.
  • Maintain contact with the director and provide timely updates on projects.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and/or professional experience.
  • Extensive organizational and project management skills.
