About the position

The Project Coordinator for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) at the World Bank plays a crucial role in supporting the Secretariat Operations team. This position focuses on events management and providing special assistant support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The coordinator will be responsible for planning and executing key events, managing logistics, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the team. The role is essential for enhancing the operational efficiency of the GPE, which aims to transform education systems in low-income countries and improve access to quality education for vulnerable children.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on planning, organizing, and executing partner country constituency meetings and other key events.
  • Provide overall logistics and operational support for events, including handling administrative arrangements and vendor negotiations.
  • Develop policy guidance and checklists for event management support.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for events-related policies and processes.
  • Conduct market research on potential vendors for events and logistics management.
  • Monitor events budget and procurement of vendors for events.
  • Provide backup support to TEP team members during heavy workloads or absences.
  • Advise the COO on strategic, operational, and logistical matters.
  • Manage the COO's internal and external engagements.
  • Conduct research and support analytical needs for key projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 4 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Full proficiency in English, both oral and written.
  • Prior experience organizing events is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience in managing and resolving conflicts.
  • Knowledge of workflow automation tools and approaches.
  • Experience with work planning and budgeting frameworks.
