About the position

The Graduate School at Georgia State University is seeking a Graduate Fellowship Coordinator to support graduate students and alumni in applying for nationally competitive awards. This role emphasizes student development and aims to enhance the acquisition of external fellowships through education, guidance, and post-award support. The Coordinator will manage relationships with external funders and oversee internal fellowship processes, contributing to the strategic goal of developing impactful scholars.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and mentor graduate students applying for national and international fellowships, including identifying suitable fellowship opportunities.
  • Guide students through the application process, including assisting with identifying recommenders and reviewing personal statements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between funded students and relevant Georgia State University offices to address post-award issues.
  • Coordinate the application, review, award, disbursement, and reporting processes for internal fellowships such as Provost Dissertation Fellows, Travel Awards, and other Graduate School fellowships/scholarships.
  • Act as the main point of contact within the Graduate School for fellowship, assistantship, and scholarship-related inquiries.
  • Track and report outcomes for students who receive internal fellowships.
  • Develop and deliver educational programming to promote national awards and fellowship opportunities, recruit applicants, and provide mentorship.
  • Manage relationships with external organizations providing fellowships to Georgia State graduate students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience, or high school diploma or GED and six years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Advising and mentorship skills.
  • Effective time management, customer service, and organizational skills to oversee complex processes, such as coordinating fellowship applications.
  • Excellent written communication skills for reviewing application materials such as personal statements.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to manage relationships with both students and external funders.
  • Ability to track and report fellowship outcomes and manage administrative tasks effectively.
  • Experience developing and delivering educational programming or workshops.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as Higher Education, Social Science, Education (or a related field)
  • Experience advising and mentoring graduate students in fellowship or scholarship applications
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver educational programming, workshops, or presentations.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Suites and Microsoft Outlook
  • Experience working in environments that require multitasking and managing competing priorities, ensuring goals and deadlines are met in a timely manner.
