About the position

On behalf of Procom Services, our client is looking for a Storage Optimization Advisor for a 12-month contract with great potential for extension or hire in Houston, Texas. This position supports the optimization of US natural gas storage assets, which currently have a capacity greater than 153 billion cubic feet and generate more than $200 million in revenue annually. The role involves providing commercial input for the outage planning process, strategizing, prioritizing, and optimizing system outages to ensure they are completed safely and efficiently while minimizing the overall impact on system customers. The Storage Optimization Advisor will work closely with Gas Control, Integrity, Capacity Scheduling, and Regions to develop a detailed outage planning process, ensuring that the commercial group has updated information on the schedule. This includes clearly articulating outage impacts to commercially oriented individuals and identifying opportunities to improve the outage schedule with internal and external partners. Maintaining and strengthening relationships with outage coordinators, natural gas control room operators, and other stakeholders is crucial, as the advisor will serve as an intermediary between field operations, capacity planning, gas control, and commercial services regarding daily capacity, maintenance, and outages. Daily monitoring of the performance of storage assets is a key responsibility, which includes evaluating physical capabilities such as injection, withdrawal, and wheeling of assets. The advisor will publish priorities for withdrawal and injection for gas control, update customer postings related to storage facility outages, approve storage deals in the LINK application system, and implement restrictions on customer storage nominations. Additionally, the advisor will develop, upload, and maintain documentation, including storage operating modes, procedures, manuals, and presentations. Evaluating historical nominations and pressures will also support the assessment of storage field expansion opportunities. This role is set in a fast-paced work environment that requires strong communication, organizational, and prioritization skills, as the dynamics of the pipeline system, weather, markets, and physical operations of facilities are constantly changing, necessitating ongoing monitoring to optimize storage assets.
