About the position

The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing electrical equipment, materials, and supplies necessary for our electrical projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the electrical industry, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This role requires collaboration with project managers, engineers, and other team members to determine project needs and requirements. The Purchasing Agent will conduct market research to identify reliable suppliers and maintain a comprehensive supplier database. Evaluating supplier proposals, negotiating pricing and terms, and making purchasing decisions in accordance with company policies and budget constraints are key responsibilities of this position. In addition to placing orders for electrical equipment, materials, and supplies, the Purchasing Agent must ensure timely delivery and adherence to project timelines. Monitoring inventory levels and managing stock levels to avoid shortages or excesses is crucial. The role also involves coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing discrepancies. Maintaining accurate purchasing records, including purchase orders, invoices, and delivery receipts, is essential. Staying updated with industry trends, new products, and market conditions to ensure competitive sourcing is also a significant part of the job.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a purchaser or in a similar procurement role within the electrical contractor industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment, materials, and supplies commonly used in the industry.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
