About the position

The Project Coordinator for the Industrial Market at Gresham Smith will play a crucial role in the execution of various architectural projects. This position involves working on all phases of projects, including design development, preparation of presentation drawings and specifications, and the coordination and correlation of construction drawings. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for preparing schematics, design development, and construction documents, ensuring that all aspects of the project are aligned with client expectations and industry standards. In this role, the Project Coordinator will develop, modify, and review production drawings, as well as edit project narratives and specifications. A significant part of the job will involve researching materials to determine the most appropriate selections for each project. The Project Coordinator will also plan, coordinate, and administer projects from the initial programming stages through to construction administration, ensuring that timelines and budgets are adhered to. Additionally, the Project Coordinator will review construction submittals and assist the project manager in construction administration tasks. Analyzing client problems and developing architectural solutions will be a key responsibility, requiring strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about design challenges. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for architecture and a desire to work on large industrial, manufacturing, and commercial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work on all phases of various architectural projects including design development, preparation of presentation drawings and specifications, design review, coordination, and correlation of construction drawings.
  • Prepare schematics, design development, and construction documents.
  • Develop, modify, and review production drawings and edit project narratives and specifications.
  • Research materials to determine the appropriate selection for the project.
  • Plan, coordinate, and administer projects from the initial programming stages all the way through to construction administration.
  • Review construction submittals and assist the project manager in construction administration.
  • Analyze client problems and develop architectural solutions to those problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Architecture pursuing licensure.
  • A minimum of 1-5 years of design experience; prior internships may count toward that total.
  • Interest in large industrial, manufacturing, and/or commercial projects with strong concept design skills.
  • Demonstrated experience using AutoCAD, REVIT, Sketchup, and PhotoShop software is required.
  • Ability to interact professionally and comfortably with a variety of personalities and communication styles and build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Digitally curious and comfortable diving in and working with coding and automation.
  • Design automation skills, including the application of parametric design tools such as Dynamo and Grasshopper.
  • Software coding - especially with Python, and/or C#.
  • Working with Revit's API.
  • Power BI for data visualization.
