About the position

The Merchandising Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in coordinating lifestyle merchandise projects for direct-to-consumer (DTC) channels at a well-known electric vehicle company. This position is hybrid, requiring in-person attendance one day a week in Irvine, California, and is offered as a six-month contract with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role. The coordinator will be responsible for managing the development and production processes with merchandise vendors, ensuring that all timelines and compliance requirements are met for product commercialization across global resale channels. This role demands a high level of organization and attention to detail, as the coordinator will maintain the Development tracker and ensure the accuracy of Material Master data. Additionally, the coordinator will support the product SKU creation process, which includes generating style numbers, color codes, and UPCs. The position also involves coordinating internal product requests for various initiatives, such as event product launches and employee benefits. The coordinator will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, strategy, marketing, communications, digital, retail, and operations, to maintain product creation timelines. Excellent customer service skills are essential, as the coordinator will interface with staff, vendors, and business partners. Other responsibilities include meeting coordination, taking minutes during meetings, and managing workload to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate lifestyle merchandise projects for DTC channels
  • Coordinate development and production with merchandise vendors
  • Request samples and follow up on production schedules with vendors
  • Coordinate internal product requests (ie: event product launch, employee benefits, belonging groups, etc)
  • Maintain Development tracker and Material Master data accuracy
  • Support with product SKU creation process (style #, color codes, generate UPC, etc)
  • Assure product commercialization / compliance for global resale into all channels (testing, legal, copy, etc)
  • Maintain product creation timelines with cross functional teams including design studio, strategy, marketing, comms, digital, retail, ops, etc
  • Consistently provide a high level of customer service to staff, vendors, business partners and guests while at times, being the client interface
  • Meeting coordination and conference room reservations & set-up, as needed
  • Attend meetings, if necessary, for taking minutes and documenting other information
  • Managing workload - prioritizing work and ensuring deadlines are met

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Merchandising, Apparel and/or retail experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in apparel/merchandise production, product development, project/vendor management
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Strong knowledge of retail math calculations
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work effectively and creatively within a team environment as well as independently
  • Strong math and computer skills in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly detail oriented and organized
  • Must be able to communicate in a professional manner and respond with timeliness
  • Resourceful and able to research problems and recommend solutions
  • Trend and fashion awareness with ability to understand current trends, competition, and market
  • Proficiency with conferencing systems, preferably Zoom
  • Flexibility and ability to handle and manage change effectively and efficiently
