About the position

The Project Coordinator position within the Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Transportation is responsible for managing and coordinating special projects for the Director of DPW&T. This role is crucial as it supports the Metropolitan District Financing & Petitions office, which is a significant revenue producer for the County. The Project Coordinator will ensure that project deadlines are met or exceeded and will supervise a Project Manager, facilitating the successful execution of high-profile specialty projects.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates, coordinates, and guides special projects.
  • Assists in the development of needs assessments and requirements.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and support for projects and programs within DPW.
  • Assists in the development of functional specification documents.
  • Assists with defining deliverables, estimates, project scope, project risks, and work breakdown structures.
  • Organizes, manages and conducts research into technical solutions to facilitate decision making for DPW Senior Management.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, Communications or a related field.
  • Minimum five years' experience in project management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of techniques for financial analysis and financial planning.
  • Skill in developing databases for analytical purposes.
  • Proficient in the use of spreadsheets and databases.
  • Knowledge of industry practice standards for developing project schedules.
