About the position

The Project Coordinator at the UFW Foundation plays a crucial role in representing the organization within the local community, focusing on community education and engagement around immigration issues. This position involves planning and promoting community events, developing programs to support local communities, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the well-being of farm workers and their families. The Project Coordinator will also work closely with local leaders to establish committees and mobilize community advocates, ensuring effective outreach and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, plans and participates in community events and service promotion.
  • Conducts outreach and education targeting farm worker communities (in-person and virtual).
  • Builds partnerships and key relationships with various organizations and local leaders.
  • Collaborates with Communications staff to generate story collection and earned media coverage.
  • Delivers accurate messages about projects, campaigns, programs, and services available to the community.
  • Ensures high service and delivery standards in a positive atmosphere.
  • Identifies, recruits and trains community residents to become community advocates.
  • Maintains collaborative working relationships with legal service, immigration, health, and related agencies.
  • Manages and implements various education and mobilization activities to achieve goals.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports on events-related data via assigned platforms.
  • Updates calendar of events, flyers, and other informational materials for distribution.
  • Provides support to other teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community education or event coordination.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to speak additional languages such as Mixteco, Zapotec, or Triqui.
  • Experience with grassroots leadership development.
