About the position

The Project Coordinator at Clemson University will serve as a part-time professional embedded within sport club programs in the Upstate region. This role focuses on providing mental health support and training, acting as a community resource for mental health services, and facilitating engagement within the sport community. The coordinator will be responsible for various tasks including data collection, training organization, and project evaluation, all aimed at enhancing mental health awareness and support in sports environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health support in sport programs and social services within Upstate sport clubs.
  • Organize and deliver Mental Health First Aid Training and USC-MHS training.
  • Support the training of athletes in NAMI - Ending the Silence.
  • Conduct bimonthly training sessions on mental health topics for sport clubs.
  • Assist in disseminating project results and reporting to SAMHSA.
  • Support pre/post-training data collection and project evaluation.
  • Engage with community partners to support the Upstate SC MH and Sport coalition.
  • Help develop sustainability plans for mental health initiatives in sports.

Requirements

  • Formalized training in mental health, social services, or a related field.
  • Understanding of the connection between mental health and sport environments.
