About the position

The Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University is seeking a Project Coordinator to join Dr. Chunhua Weng's research lab. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting with the coordination of various projects within the lab. This position involves a range of administrative and research-related activities that are essential for the smooth operation of the lab's research initiatives. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day administration, which includes interfacing with department administrators to manage progress reports and monitor expenses. Keeping track of project milestones and deadlines is a key responsibility, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and in accordance with the lab's objectives. In addition to administrative duties, the Project Coordinator will coordinate research-related activities, which involve scheduling research activities and documenting meeting minutes. The role also requires the documentation necessary to monitor and track progress, including managing IRB protocols and preparing progress reports for funding agencies. Effective communication with various project stakeholders is essential, as the Project Coordinator will interact with research collaborators and participants to facilitate project goals. The position also includes participation in research participant recruitment activities, which may involve outreach through email, online live sessions, and face-to-face interactions. The Project Coordinator will work primarily under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Weng, and will collaborate closely with the research team, research collaborators at Columbia University, and partner institutions. This role is vital for ensuring that the lab's research projects are well-coordinated and that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the research process.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and training.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under deadlines.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working independently on multiple projects.
