About The Position

The Project Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the operations and initiatives of the CDMRP Dept of Defense Spinal Cord Injury Research Program funded research project titled “Improving Cardiometabolic Health in Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury Using Home-Based Interactive Virtual Gaming.” This project aims to address the significant physical and physiological changes that occur following spinal cord injury (SCI), which place individuals at an increased risk for chronic diseases due to physical inactivity and deconditioning. The project recognizes the urgent need to overcome traditional barriers to exercise and to facilitate meaningful exercise experiences for individuals with SCI. The research program seeks to develop a home-based virtual reality (VR) exercise platform, known as VR-Move, that is informed by the needs and preferences of individuals with SCI and SCI-specific experts. This platform aims to promote physical activity among individuals with SCI by providing an engaging and accessible exercise solution. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for various essential functions, including participant recruitment, scheduling testing sessions, maintaining institutional review board approvals, and overseeing the deployment of the VR platform in participants' homes. The position is funded for three years, with a 12-month appointment for the first two years and a 9-month appointment in the final year. The Project Coordinator will also assist in data entry, participant payments, and training research personnel, as well as support administrative tasks and report writing as needed. This role is crucial for the successful management and execution of the proposed trial, ensuring that all aspects of the research project are conducted efficiently and effectively.
