About the position

Power2Workers is dedicated to community advancement and local hiring for construction projects. The organization seeks to connect motivated candidates who have completed construction training or possess relevant experience with construction employers. The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the success and retention of partnerships between employers and employment candidates. Additionally, Power2Workers is committed to supporting and growing small, disadvantaged businesses and business associations, providing them with the necessary resources to thrive. In this role, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for outreach and engagement with community partners, training facilities, worksource centers, and candidates in the San Diego area. The coordinator will handle candidate intake by requesting resumes or referring candidates to construction training programs. Conducting in-person orientations and pre-screening sessions will be essential to prepare candidates for work, ensuring they have the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools. The coordinator will also manage the SharePoint Local Hire Tracker database, performing data entry and reviewing resumes to match candidates with available positions. The Project Coordinator will attend project meetings, track subcontractors active on-site, and conduct onsite interviews as required by projects. They will be responsible for uploading and monitoring interview forms for reporting purposes and building relationships with unions for sponsorship and dispatch as needed. Additionally, the coordinator will prepare social media posts to celebrate hired candidates and share success stories with subcontractors and partners. Monthly reports will be generated to include outreach efforts, available candidates, hiring activity, and compliance data. The coordinator will also follow up with subcontractors to encourage hiring of Ready2Work candidates, aiming for permanent employment opportunities. Performance metrics will include ensuring that at least 80% of subcontractors are contacted and referred candidates, with ongoing communication tracked in the Local Hire Trackers.

Responsibilities

  • Outreach and engagement with San Diego community partners, training facilities, worksource centers, and candidates.
  • Request resumes or refer candidates to construction training during candidate intake.
  • Conduct in-person orientation and pre-screening to prepare candidates for work.
  • Ensure candidates have necessary PPE and tools, discussing work ethic and expectations.
  • Manage and perform data entry in the SharePoint Local Hire Tracker database.
  • Review resumes to match candidates with available positions.
  • Attend project meetings and track active subcontractors on-site.
  • Conduct onsite interviews as per project requirements.
  • Upload and monitor interview forms for reporting purposes.
  • Build relationships and work with unions on sponsorship and dispatch as applicable.
  • Prepare social media posts celebrating hired candidates and success stories.
  • Review and send monthly reports per project requirements by deadline.
  • Update and maintain project trackers with the latest local hire data per subcontractor.
  • Follow up with subcontractors regarding compliance and encourage hiring of Ready2Work candidates.
  • Track available candidates for various positions and referrals.
  • Act as lead placement coordinator on assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Ability to learn DocuSign, SharePoint, and other software efficiently.
  • Willingness to travel to construction sites and be comfortable in a construction environment.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to work.
  • Dependable, hardworking, and a self-starter who can work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Bilingual is a plus for facilitating jobsite interviews.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in recruiting for at least 2 years.
