About the position

The Project Coordinator/Trainer for Trees and People Coalition will oversee the Trees for Seattle’s Future project, focusing on enhancing community engagement with urban trees and promoting environmental education for young children and their families. This role involves developing educational materials, conducting outreach, and facilitating training sessions to strengthen community bonds and awareness of Seattle's tree canopy.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the Trees for Seattle’s Future project in collaboration with the TPC Project Manager and Consultant.
  • Develop, distribute, and analyze surveys and evaluation materials.
  • Conduct public outreach for collaboration opportunities in impacted communities.
  • Develop a two-week early childhood education (ECE) curriculum about urban trees, informed by community input.
  • Develop and provide a total of eight STARS trainings for early childhood educators (ECE).
  • Develop, schedule, and facilitate eight Community Cafés and a final celebration event.
  • Develop online learning materials about urban trees for children, educators, families, and caregivers informed by the Community Cafés.
  • Edit video footage contributed by educators and community members into a video depicting project activities.
  • Widely distribute the curriculum, learning materials, and video through community-based networks and online.
  • Evaluate the program.

Requirements

  • Educational training and at least five years of professional experience in early childhood education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience developing early childhood education curricula.
  • Accredited STARS trainer.
  • Strong relationships with and demonstrated skill working with early childhood education centers and personnel, related governmental agencies, and community organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating and working with diverse populations and interest groups.
  • Strong project coordination skills.
  • Understanding of the benefits of urban forests and the impact of environmental inequities.
  • Video editing experience.
  • Washington State business license.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates or Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Bachelor of Science or Master’s Degree in Human Services.
  • Ten or more years of experience in project coordination, public outreach and engagement.
  • Ten or more years of experience developing early childhood education curricula.
  • Ten or more years of experience providing STARS trainings.
  • Ten or more years of experience facilitating Community Cafés.
  • Understanding of political dynamics in Seattle and King County regarding early childhood education.
  • Proficiency with storytelling, communication, organization.
