About the position

The School of Public Health's Cannabis Research Center is seeking applications for a full-time Project Coordinator. This position is crucial in supporting the various research projects of the Cannabis Research Center, which was established following a state appropriation in 2023. The center aims to advance understanding of the implications of cannabis legalization on the health, safety, and well-being of Minnesotans. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating project activities, ensuring adherence to timelines, and providing essential administrative and logistical support, including scheduling, tracking, and documentation. The role involves significant project management and coordination tasks, which include recruiting participants, developing instruments and protocols, planning and coordinating incentives, and overseeing data collection. The Project Coordinator will also supervise field data collection staff and coordinate data collection efforts in various locations, such as state and county fairs. Additionally, the position requires preparing, monitoring, and updating project plans to ensure that project goals are met, as well as creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation. Communication is a key aspect of this role, as the Project Coordinator will act as the point of contact for the CRC team, providing updates on project status and disseminating information to diverse audiences, including researchers, practitioners, and community members. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project activities to ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support including scheduling, tracking, and documentation.
  • Work closely with CRC Leadership and team members to complete a wide range of project management tasks.
  • Recruit participants and develop instruments and protocols for research projects.
  • Plan and coordinate incentives for project participants.
  • Oversee data collection and supervise field data collection staff.
  • Prepare, monitor, and update project plans to ensure adherence to project goals.
  • Coordinate project meetings and create work plans and timelines for CRC projects.
  • Assist with budget tracking and project-related expenditures.
  • Identify, assess, and resolve issues on projects, escalating complex issues to CRC Leadership as needed.
  • Collaborate with CRC Leadership to evaluate current procedures and recommend changes to improve efficiency.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, ensuring all needed documentation is current and properly filed.

Requirements

  • BA/BS plus at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 6 years.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports, and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to collect data in a variety of locations, including administering surveys at state/county fairs and collecting observational data at retail locations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to antiracism and social equity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in public health or related field.
