About the position

The Project Cost Engineer/Estimator at iParametrics is responsible for managing cost control, estimation, forecasting, and risk analysis for high-purity and bulk gas projects. This role is crucial for supporting mission-critical construction projects in Sunnyvale, CA, where precision and efficiency are essential. The position involves collaboration with subcontractors, vendors, and project teams to ensure project budgets and schedules are met.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain job cost reports, including budgets, forecasts, commitments, and contingency management.
  • Conduct detailed cost tracking and analysis by bid package, change orders, and other specific project elements.
  • Interpret design and construction documentation to quantify materials and accurately assess project needs.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to validate cost proposals, ensuring alignment with contract terms.
  • Perform monthly cost report reconciliations and monitor project indicators.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs to support subcontractor proposal validation and develop cost authorization packages.
  • Generate clear, organized material summaries for project analysis.
  • Ensure process piping and high-purity gas systems meet budget and schedule requirements, supporting system startup and commissioning.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of cost estimation and management experience in high-purity or bulk gas systems within the construction industry.
  • Experience with semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facility projects is highly desired.
  • Strong background in cost analysis, budget management, and third-party cost validation.
  • Proficient in managing subcontractor estimates, reviewing change orders, and negotiating costs with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams) and familiarity with project management software like Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
  • Competence in design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Ability to interpret complex design and construction documents accurately.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a proactive approach to managing changing project schedules and priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, maintaining professionalism under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or off-shift as needed to accommodate project timelines.
