About the position

The Project Delivery Director at Lonza is responsible for overseeing investment projects at the Vacaville manufacturing facility. This role involves planning, managing, and executing projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. The position requires strong leadership skills to guide project teams and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors, while ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute project plans through the Engineering, Design, Construction, Commissioning, and Qualification phases.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure adherence to financial constraints.
  • Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with HSE and quality standards according to internal procedures and health authority requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage the work of project teams to ensure efficient collaboration.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and legal requirements.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Manage project resources, including equipment, materials, and personnel.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related science discipline or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in project engineering and project management for chemical, biochemical, and life sciences industries.
  • Broad technical knowledge of various engineering disciplines in the life sciences environment.
  • Proven experience in cost control and scheduling related to investment projects.
  • Experience in engineering aspects of facility design to build compliant and cost-effective plants.
  • Knowledge of modern CQV approaches to minimize time from construction completion to routine production while maintaining compliance.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Good understanding of the CDMO industry/business.
  • Strong experience in Engineering and cGMP Manufacturing of chemical and biological APIs.
