About the position

As an Amazon Fleet Remediation Project Design Electrical Engineer, you will lead design projects in operational data centers, focusing on remediating issues, upgrading existing infrastructure, and adding new services. This role involves providing lifecycle support from design through implementation, ensuring that data center upgrades enhance capacity, availability, and sustainability. You will collaborate with various teams and act as a technical subject matter expert, managing multiple projects across different geographical regions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and increase sustainability.
  • Prepare and review short circuit coordination studies and maintain software models to match as-built site conditions.
  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for Data Centers in your region.
  • Interface with internal and external teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
  • Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert during new remediation projects.
  • Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of design experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities, including data centers.
  • Experience with data center builds, network engineering, and systems engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers.
  • Experience as a resident design engineer or hands-on design consultant.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data center electrical and mechanical topology.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Advanced degree in engineering, business, or related field.
  • Fluent knowledge of continuous operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, airflow containment, and building management systems.
