About the position

The Project Design Engineer for Market Research & Innovation at Daicel Safety Systems Americas, Inc. is responsible for planning, developing, and promoting innovative safety products that address current and future market needs. This role involves researching social issues, proposing solutions, and maximizing corporate growth objectives through effective product design and development.

Responsibilities

• Research databases, papers, and publications to identify social issues and potential needs for safety product solutions.
• Prepare analysis reports and share information with the global Daicel team.
• Conceive new or improved product concepts and designs based on research results.
• Communicate with potential customers, academia, government bodies, and other organizations to validate research findings and product concepts.
• Estimate the business potential of new concepts and identify business or development partners for commercialization.
• Attend conferences and other meetings to network and promote Daicel activities.
• Monitor strategic plans and expenditures to meet corporate goals.

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Marketing, Engineering, or related discipline; advanced degree is desired.
• Minimum 5 years of business development experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of engineering principles.
• Experience working with Japanese companies and employees is a plus.
• Experience in the safety-related industry is desired.
• Self-starter with the ability to meet committed schedules.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
