About the position

As a Project Developer on the New Projects Team, you will be responsible for leading your U.S.-based wind, solar, and storage projects through early- to mid-stage development phases. You will work with your team on market strategy and site selection, and establish land control, coordinate applications for interconnection, and facilitate environmental, permitting, resource, and transmission reviews. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality and profitable projects that meet all early-stage project milestones. You will be the face of your projects, both externally and internally. Externally, you will build relationships with landowners, community members, regulators, and local government officials to gain project support. Specifically, you will serve as project lead for discussions with landowners, negotiate site control agreements, and initiate the planning/use permit approval process. You will manage various studies and the outside consultants who lead them to meet project budget and schedule. Effective communication with stakeholders, including federal, state and local officials, project landowners, and surrounding community members, will be crucial. You will drive complex negotiations and independently create solutions to project-specific challenges, making sound decisions under challenging circumstances using available data and your experience. Internally, you will collaborate with other Scout staff to ensure the smooth delivery of your projects. This includes facilitating the engagement of internal development, interconnection, origination, procurement, construction, legal, resource assessment, accounting, GIS, and finance teams. You will integrate the feedback of Scout team members into your project approach to achieve superior results, establish organizational goals, objectives, and operating procedures in line with the overall business plans and objectives, and support the creation and implementation of the long-term company strategy and initiatives related to wind, solar, and storage project development. You will create control and influence over the costs, terms, and schedules of key project milestones, efficiently manage multiple projects in parallel, and support and help guide the work and professional development of Associate-level team members. Scout is in search of professionals who have a strong understanding of both the quantitative and qualitative drivers behind renewable energy projects. Our developers understand which strategies and tactics enhance their projects' success and use an array of problem-solving skills to implement their plan. Project Developers can point to a diverse set of tactics and strategies that they have deployed in the past with success. Project Developers handle many complex issues independently and have a track record of leading projects, consistently providing leadership to multiple junior-level team members on their projects. You will join the New Projects team, reporting directly to a Regional Director of New Projects, and work in parallel with other project developers who have responsibility for other geographic regions, sharing knowledge and providing support as needed. An Associate Project Developer will provide support to your portfolio of projects, allowing you to advance your projects more efficiently.
