About the position

The Project Development Engineer at CS Energy will collaborate with the Development and Engineering teams to support the creation of high-quality solar PV projects. This role involves evaluating prospective sites, analyzing existing designs, and optimizing projects for financial returns. The engineer will also manage interconnection processes, interface with utilities, and implement innovative engineering solutions to enhance project quality and value.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate new site opportunities for development suitability based on internal guidelines.
  • Review and evaluate existing PV designs for inefficiencies or opportunities for cost-savings.
  • Develop layouts and electrical design packages for solar PV systems.
  • Support project financing via technical due diligence requests.
  • Perform energy production modeling to optimize project design.
  • Provide value engineering solutions during development and construction phases.
  • Coordinate with engineering firms to obtain detailed design packages.
  • Develop single-line and three-line diagrams for solar PV systems.
  • Lead the project interconnection approval process with utilities and ISOs.
  • Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders regarding engineering issues.
  • Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for contractors.
  • Coordinate electrical integration of energy storage systems.
  • Mentor and train team members on project design and energy modeling.

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
  • 4 or more years of solar PV design, design/build, or EPC field experience.
  • Experience in electrical interconnection design & coordination (LV & MV).
  • Experience in high voltage design and coordination (highly desired).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and PVSYST.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional is an advantage.
  • PE License is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in ETAP, ASPEN, PSSE, or SKM power system analysis software is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
