About the position

As an Electrical Engineer at Beyond TalentEdge, you will be responsible for designing complete building electrical systems for both new and renovated structures. This includes power, lighting, fire alarm, and other special systems. You will play a crucial role in assigning and reviewing the work of junior team members, ensuring that tasks are coordinated effectively. Additionally, you will assist in the development of schedules and workload requirements for entry-level engineers, designers, and technicians. Your expertise will be essential in editing specifications from standard libraries and receiving general reviews of all aspects of your work. The position requires a high degree of independence, as you will be expected to work with minimal mentoring and guidance. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of electrical circuit theory and design, as well as a deep understanding of building power distribution and computer network systems, including the associated communications infrastructure. You will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in technical report writing and have strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and REVIT. Familiarity with the National Electric Code (N.E.C. / NFPA 70) is also essential. This role requires a proactive approach to learning new skills and adapting to non-routine problems, particularly in the context of lighting technologies for buildings. To qualify for this position, candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET Accredited program, have completed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, and be on track for or hold Professional Engineering (PE) certification in New York State. A minimum of six years of experience in designing building electrical systems is required, along with a valid NYS DMV Driver's License. This position involves occasional travel between Syracuse, Rochester, Binghamton, and Buffalo, as well as to various project sites. You will also interact with clients, assisting with communication and contracts regarding their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Design of complete building electrical systems for both new and renovated buildings including power, lighting, fire alarm and other special systems.
  • Assigns tasks to, coordinates work of and reviews work of entry-level and junior engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Assist in developing schedule and workload requirements for entry-level and junior engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Edits specifications from standard libraries.
  • Receive general review of all aspects of work.

Requirements

  • Advanced working knowledge of electrical circuit theory and design.
  • Advanced understanding of building power distribution.
  • Advanced understanding of computer network systems and associated communications infrastructure within buildings.
  • Advanced understanding of signals / controls.
  • Proficient technical report writing ability with fluency using the English language.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), CAD proficiency in both AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of the National Electric Code (N.E.C. / NFPA 70).
  • Ability to learn new skills and adapt to non-routine problems.
  • Knowledge/experience with lighting technologies for buildings.
  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited program.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
  • Successful completion of the Professional Engineering (PE) requirements in New York State, or within one year of obtaining such with a prior EIT.
  • NYS DMV Driver's License.
  • Six (6) years of experience in design of building electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm and special systems.
