About The Position

The Project Engineer at Oerlikon Metco US, Inc. is responsible for managing projects from inception to commissioning, ensuring that all requirements from process engineers, production personnel, and senior management are met. This role involves planning projects to minimize costs and downtime, sourcing necessary parts and equipment, and tracking project progress and expenditures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder.
  • 5 years of project experience in industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of CAD; proficiency in three-dimensional CAD is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a cross-functional team and foster relationships with vendors.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings, including pipework and instrumentation diagrams.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and ability to use basic manual and powered tools.
  • Willingness to get hands-on with dirty, noisy, and hot equipment when help is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a project manager for projects generated by others, with costs ranging from $10,000 to $500,000.
  • Create capital expenditure requests for non-order-based spending.
  • Design simple mechanical solutions, including pipework and simple parts/structures.
  • Maintain positive liaison with existing vendors and source new vendors for parts, equipment, and labor.
  • Obtain competitive quotations from multiple vendors.
  • Identify and propose upgrades and/or purchase of new equipment.
  • Occasionally work with Quality to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work closely with the Financial Controller on project costing and tracking.
