About the position

The Project Engineer 2 at JE Dunn will support routine construction and field execution responsibilities for various construction projects. This role involves participating in multiple facets of the construction process, including general construction management, punch lists, and executing self-perform work. The position aims to enhance understanding of the building process and how JE Dunn executes projects, all while adhering to the company's strategy, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and actively participate in all aspects of the company's safety and quality plans and culture.
  • Participate with project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.
  • Learn and participate in the estimating and change management process and tools.
  • Work on site with the project team to support various tasks such as monitoring crew size and materials.
  • Participate in activities such as punch lists, city inspections, and safety reviews.
  • Post drawings and specifications with the most recent information.
  • Organize and participate in various project meetings and prepare required documentation.
  • Prepare a variety of reports including project daily reports and weekly progress reports.
  • Perform periodic job site observations with project leadership.
  • Create procurement logs based on project schedule and specification requirements.
  • Provide progress updates and reports to support the scheduling process.
  • Support the close out of projects, including punch lists and as-built drawings.
  • Utilize company best practice standards for building and construction techniques.
  • Build relationships and develop communication skills with tradespeople and project team members.
  • Develop an understanding of various functions and support roles across the company.
  • Collaborate and demonstrate teamwork in project settings.
  • Learn and incorporate Lean practices into regular activities.
  • Learn about best practices for identifying and integrating self-perform opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years construction experience.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely in a timely manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure and available resources.
  • Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy.
  • Knowledge of required construction technology.
  • Ability to apply fundamentals of construction management.
  • Knowledge of self-perform and labor productivity.
  • Ability to assess and optimize project productivity.
  • Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team.
