About the position

The Project Engineer at Ford AV is responsible for designing audio, video, lighting, electronic, and acoustical systems, ensuring they meet customer specifications while maintaining profitability. This role emphasizes effective communication of complex technical details to various stakeholders and requires rigorous testing and evaluation of systems to uphold quality standards. The engineer will collaborate with project managers and installation teams to ensure quality control and provide clear installation instructions, fostering a cooperative environment across divisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design sound, video, lighting, electronic, and acoustical systems according to customer specifications.
  • Conduct rigorous system testing and evaluation to ensure quality in design and installation.
  • Communicate complex technical details in simple terms to customers, salespersons, and installation technicians.
  • Document interactions with customers or vendors, including date, name, and summary of discussions.
  • Prepare submittal drawings and detailed engineering data for system designs.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager and Job Superintendent to prioritize quality control and installation instructions.
  • Foster teamwork and a positive work environment across all divisions and personnel.

Requirements

  • Experience with CAD/AutoCAD.
  • Programming experience in C/C#/Crestron/Extron/AMX preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 65%, including overnight travel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and typing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience (new grads welcome).
  • Experience with design and installation of professional audio, video, network, and lighting systems (for senior level position).
  • Familiarity with Biamp Tesira Forte, Q-SYS Level 1, Dante, CTS, or similar preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with troubleshooting AV systems.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems.
