About the position
The Project Engineer position at Hoyle Tanner involves working within the Ground Transportation Division to develop transportation infrastructure plans and specifications. The role emphasizes collaboration within a multi-discipline team to address technical challenges, ensuring projects are completed accurately and on time. Responsibilities
- Lead a small team for moderately complex projects.
- Complete assignments accurately and on time with limited direction from the Project Manager.
- Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, and project schedule.
- Provide updates and recommendations to the Project Manager in maintaining schedule and budget.
- Understand the client's organization, key people, and client expectations.
- Share best practices to improve performance and efficiency of self and team.
- Develop person-hour estimates and budgets with guidance from senior staff.
- Assist in proposal efforts and development.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback to develop entry-level and staff engineers, peers, and others as needed.
- Conduct site visits and participate in or lead meetings with clients/contractors.
- Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills for deliverables, proposals, and presentations.
Requirements
- BS (MS preferred) Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- 5 - 10 years of relevant experience
- Current PE in NH, MA, ME, or VT
- Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, VTrans or MassDOT and municipal bridge projects
- Experience with software including AutoCAD, Microstation, Bridge Structural Analysis Programs, MathCad, BlueBeam, etc.
