About the position

As a Project Engineer specializing in bridges, you will play a crucial role in leading design efforts and managing project execution from concept to completion. This position involves overseeing inspections, ensuring quality control, and mentoring junior staff while collaborating with various stakeholders to deliver successful bridge projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design process for bridge projects, including calculations and drawing development.
  • Prepare bid documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct inspections and produce detailed reports.
  • Perform quality control (QC) reviews to ensure design accuracy.
  • Engage in construction administration tasks such as shop drawing review and record plan creation.
  • Oversee project execution and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Mentor junior staff and support their professional growth.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and present to regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural design.
  • Seven or more years of experience in bridge design.
  • PE license is required.
  • Strong technical skills in design software such as AutoCAD and Microstation.
  • Familiarity with structural modeling tools.
  • Experience with DOT processes (MassDOT, CTDOT, NHDOT).
  • Knowledge of state and federal bridge design codes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Structural/Bridge Design is preferred.
