About the position

The Project Engineer/Business Analyst role at CGI involves supporting a leading global client by providing project services to the lead Project Manager. This includes analyzing business requirements, developing project cost estimates, monitoring project activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively while focusing on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and provide project services to the lead Project Manager.
  • Develop project cost estimates and integrated project schedules.
  • Monitor and control activities during the execution of the project stage.
  • Forecast and report costs and schedules in line with company guidance.
  • Ensure project controls requirements are embedded in commercial documents.
  • Develop project controls guidance notes, procedures, tools, templates, and best practices.
  • Gather and analyze business requirements from internal stakeholders.
  • Assist project manager with tracking and scoping of project tasks.
  • Create presentations and supporting data for stakeholders.
  • Maintain HSE focus within the team and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Build and maintain healthy client relationships and resolve issues proactively.
  • Effectively manage assigned budgets within project scope.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and manage change control processes.
  • Contribute to the development of overall project schedules and supervise work accordingly.
  • Monitor cost aspects of the project to forecast final costs and avoid overruns.
  • Contribute to compliance with company's policies and procedures regarding quality management.
  • Focus the team on achieving milestones and key project objectives.
  • Provide clear reports to management and communicate effectively with the design team and third parties.
  • Monitor the closure of identified risks and opportunities.
  • Assess procurement processes to ensure goods meet specifications and are delivered on time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Management, Project Management, or a relevant discipline.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience or significant practical experience and on-the-job training.
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure projects.
  • Job experience in mining or other industrial industries is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to cultivate, manage, and develop positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and presentation capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project management software tools.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in industrial settings.
