About the position

CobbFendley is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Austin, TX. The Project Engineer will play a crucial role in designing water distribution systems and facilities, wastewater collection systems and facilities, roadway and drainage projects, and providing city engineer services. This position involves plan and plat reviews and other projects typical of a municipal engineering practice. The ideal candidate will have experience working with plan and profile construction drawings associated with municipal infrastructure improvement projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting CobbFendley leads and clients with analysis, engineering design, plans and specifications, and construction administration for various projects. This role requires the ability to represent CobbFendley at client meetings, perform client coordination, and apply technical expertise while working independently and collaboratively with a project team on both conventional and unconventional projects. The Project Engineer will produce construction plan sets for municipal and governmental clients, conduct independent research, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a professional attitude and fulfilling responsibilities with integrity. In addition to technical skills, the Project Engineer must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a motivation to learn in a dynamic environment with short deadlines. The role also involves budgeting, invoicing, scheduling projects, preparing proposals, coordinating with subcontractors, and creating engineering exhibits. The Project Engineer will be expected to communicate ideas and tasks effectively, adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards, and maintain a commitment to industry standards to achieve department and company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design water distribution systems and facilities.
  • Design wastewater collection systems and facilities.
  • Work on roadway and drainage projects.
  • Provide city engineer services and conduct plan and plat reviews.
  • Support CobbFendley leads and clients with analysis, engineering design, plans, and specifications.
  • Represent CobbFendley at client meetings and perform client coordination.
  • Produce construction plan sets for municipal and governmental clients.
  • Conduct independent research and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Work in a collaborative team environment and perform self QA/QC of work.
  • Prepare proposals and coordinate with subcontractors in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university required.
  • 5 - 10 years of civil engineering experience.
  • P.E. license required.
  • Experience directly for a Municipality preferred (vs experience with Land / Site Development).
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Bluebeam software.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering design.
  • Motivated to learn in a dynamic environment with short deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with budgeting, invoicing, and scheduling projects.
  • Ability to prepare proposals and level of efforts.
  • Experience in report writing and creation of engineering exhibits.
