About the position

Audubon, an EPC company based in Houston, is seeking a Project Engineer specializing in Civil, Structural, and Architectural disciplines. This role is critical in ensuring that the contractor's performance aligns with the project's technical requirements. The Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the accuracy and timeliness of design document reviews while maintaining the technical integrity of the engineering and design processes for the LNG facility. The ideal candidate will be a mid-career professional with substantial experience in compliance assurance related to earthworks, foundations, and structures for equipment and systems within LNG facilities. A strong drive and commitment to excellence are essential for success in this position. In this role, the Project Engineer will ensure that the EPC contractor delivers process engineering work and deliverables that meet established standards, specifications, FEED design, and contractual obligations. Collaboration with the engineering team is vital to guarantee that the overall design is safe, fit for purpose, and reliable. The Project Engineer will also participate in technical assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA, and will assist in reviewing process documents, guidelines, and project specifications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, particularly for FERC's LNG project permit approval. The Project Engineer will play a key role in executing the project in accordance with the organization's safety regulations, ensuring quality conformance, and adhering to the project schedule. Effective communication with other engineering, operational, and functional team members is crucial, as is the ability to call for support from other engineering disciplines when multi-discipline technical issues arise. The Project Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the technical integrity of the engineering and design within their discipline, answering technical queries and RFIs from contractors, and participating in key design reviews to ensure readiness and compliance with baseline scope changes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the EPC contractor delivers process engineering work and deliverables in accordance with standards, specifications, FEED design and contractual requirements.
  • Work with the Engineering team to ensure the overall design is safe, fit for purpose and will operate reliably.
  • Participate and provide technical expertise on the HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA and Review of MOC.
  • Assist with reviewing process documents, guidelines and project specifications, and follow-up on due time.
  • Assist with review of process studies and assessments in accordance with NFPA 59A/ 49 CFR 193 for FERC s LNG project permit approval.
  • Ensure that the project is executed in accordance with the organization s safety regulations, with quality conformance and within schedule.
  • Assist with reviewing Project philosophies, process control narratives, design specifications and other process documents.
  • Ensure efficient communication with other company engineering, operational and functional team members.
  • Call for support from other engineering disciplines when multi-discipline technical issues arise.
  • Responsible for maintaining technical integrity of the engineering & design for their particular engineering discipline.
  • Answer Technical Queries and RFIs from contractors.
  • Participate in key design review and ensure design review readiness.
  • Monitors changes against baseline scope.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET Accredited Institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Medium/large multi-discipline project lead experience preferred.
  • LNG Project experience required.
  • Experience in assuring compliance of earthworks, foundations, structures for equipment and systems within the LNG facility.
  • Experience providing expertise and support for reviewing process design and engineering activities of LNG facilities.
  • Proven history as Lead Process engineer on a similar LNG terminal.
  • Technical knowledge of all relevant codes and material specifications.
  • Proficient in simulation tools like Aspen Hysys, Unisim or similar platforms.
  • Proficient in reviewing P&IDs, Control Systems, Equipment Sizing, producing/reviewing process datasheets, technical evaluations of vendor packages.
  • Conversant with APCI Liquefaction Technology.
  • Conversant with LNG Pretreatment units and processes.
  • Good communication skills.
