About The Position

This role will be responsible for providing technical support to the construction operations on the project. The individual will plan, direct, and coordinate engineering and scheduling activities of designated projects to ensure that the goals or objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. This will be achieved by performing various duties personally or through subordinate supervisors, typically working on medium-scale projects. The position requires a proactive approach to managing project timelines and budgets, ensuring that all aspects of the project are aligned with the overall objectives. The responsibilities include managing professional staff responsible for design and project construction, directing and coordinating activities of project personnel to ensure that the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget. The role also involves assisting subordinate supervisors in maintaining production on budget and schedule, reviewing project estimates or plans to determine schedules, estimated job costs, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project. Understanding project documents for completeness or inadequacies is crucial, as is anticipating project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delays in production. The individual will establish work plans and staffing for each phase of the project, working closely with Human Resources in recruitment efforts as necessary. They will oversee coordination with project staff to outline work plans, assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority. Regular reviews of project status and modifications of schedules or plans as required will be necessary, along with preparing project reports for management, owners, and subcontractors. The role requires continuous follow-up on directives to be alert for situations that are not progressing productively and for opportunities to improve project performance. Additionally, the individual will confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems, working closely with company employees, project supervisors, owners, external teams, and support personnel to secure commitments regarding managerial and supervisory requests. Providing positive safety leadership to the project is essential, as is reviewing field operations to ensure a safe workplace. The role also involves coordinating the preparation and updating of the formal project construction schedule as required by the contract documents, managing resource use with the project superintendent, and overseeing claims management and documentation. The individual will coordinate material purchases, ensure that subcontractor agreements are prepared, and that change orders are accurate and issued to owners, subcontractors, and suppliers. Maintaining business relationships and managing subcontractors, clients/owners, engineers, and unions is also a key responsibility, along with participating in project presentations to elected officials, the general public, and other stakeholders. Finally, the individual will be responsible for project closeout, securing loose ends by finishing paperwork, obtaining retainages, supporting supervisors, and expediting claims, as well as conducting debriefings of the project to review all positive and negative aspects after completion. Negotiation skills will be essential for confidently addressing any matters on behalf of the joint venture as they relate to cost, schedule, and contract matters with owners and subcontractors.
