About the position

The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of engineering design projects, ensuring that designs and drawings lead to successful construction outcomes. This role involves developing civil site drawings, performing necessary calculations, and managing project timelines and resources. The Project Engineer will act as the primary point of contact for clients and coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure project success, all while adhering to the company's core values of Respect, Integrity, Service, and the Environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop civil site drawings including site plans, grading plans, demolition plans, utility plans, drainage plans, erosion control plans, landscaping and irrigation plans, details and additional drawings as required.
  • Perform necessary calculations including stormwater calculations, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, etc. as required and develop necessary specifications for a successful and complete construction drawing set.
  • Prepare conceptual site layouts.
  • Review local ordinances and township requirements for planning and zoning and building permits.
  • Collect and complete planning and zoning documents and permit documents.
  • Coordinate with local surveyor and attend planning and zoning meetings as needed.
  • Travel to project sites and local city/township departments for project-related tasks.
  • Complete tasks and mark-ups in other disciplines such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural Engineering.
  • Assist with the permitting process, developing budgets and schedules, evaluating bid proposals, performing site inspections, and ensuring compliance with client requirements.
  • Manage assigned projects including QA/QC and act as the project representative.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of civil engineering and construction procedures.
  • Skilled at engineering design, documentation, and resource management for projects up to $4m in size.
  • Exceptional organizational skills including file management and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Skilled and working knowledge of AutoCAD and construction management software.
  • Ability to develop a complete construction plan set for planning and zoning submission.
  • Strong communication skills in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members and clients.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in MEP Engineering.
  • Previous experience in civil engineering or related field.
