About the position

The position is responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance for small to medium-sized projects within Cubic Transportation Systems. The role involves troubleshooting software and hardware issues, assisting external customers, and ensuring the delivery of engineering solutions that meet project requirements. The incumbent will work under general supervision, collaborating with various teams and stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and support project management activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the program manager with technical issues.
• Support the generation and management of encryption keys for both PCI and non-PCI usage.
• Support the project team in defining and documenting any issues and corrections found in the field.
• Deliver engineering solutions that meet budget, schedule, and agreed scope.
• Interface with customers on engineering requirements, issues, planning, and status updates.
• Serve as technical support for customers, supporting technical presentations, discussions, and workshops.
• Support and monitor cross-team collaboration using tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, and Slack.
• Support and monitor software development work activities and status using tools such as Jira.
• Support defect identification and resolution and monitor test status using tools such as TestRail.
• Support collaborations with internal departments, customer representatives, third-party suppliers, and other stakeholders in support of issue resolution.
• Work with functional engineering managers to support customer needs with additional resources.
• Communicate with customers and engineering to troubleshoot issues, isolate the root cause, and deliver solutions or implement workarounds.
• Manage support requests and customer expectations throughout the D&B and deployment support process to ensure customer success and satisfaction.
• Document all relevant details from the initial report of an issue, through troubleshooting, escalation, and resolution.
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex customer issues; working directly with Program Manager and Engineering when issues must be escalated.
• Respond to customers in a professional and timely manner to deliver workarounds and solutions for complex technical problems.

Requirements

• Four-year college degree in computer systems engineering or related technical discipline, plus two years of related experience, or an applicable master's degree.
• Strong understanding of encryption technologies including AES, DES, RSA, and EC.
• Experience with HSMs and key management, ideally in the payment industry with DUKPT.
• Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) including certificate management, renewal cycles, software signing, and revocation.
• Experience in creating, analyzing, documenting, and testing system and subsystem designs.
• Mental ability to perform engineering problem solving and analytical tasks.
• Familiarity with project management principles.
• Ability to work under project deadlines and support Program Manager in establishing and maintaining engineering project schedules and cost budgets.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication skills, both verbally and in written form.
• Some leadership experience working with and building teams.
