About the position

The Project Engineer - Cybersecurity, Medical position at Intertek involves independently performing testing and evaluation of various products to meet U.S., Canadian, and international product safety standards. The role requires a deep understanding of cybersecurity standards and risk management practices, particularly in relation to IIoT and Medical Devices. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with clients, mentor junior staff, and engage in business development activities while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the equipment under test (EUT).
  • Perform testing of products in accordance with standards, including core tests such as rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, and more.
  • Mentor less senior technical personnel.
  • Supply information for quotes regarding project length, site needs, rental equipment, samples, and applicable standards.
  • Follow sample handling procedures, ensuring proper logging and packaging for shipment.
  • Provide sales support by attending client visits.
  • Communicate project status and test results to clients, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
  • Work closely with clients daily to navigate security processes.
  • Engage in business development activities with new and existing clients.
  • Develop and deliver customer-facing workshops, training materials, and whitepapers.
  • Conduct on and off-site evaluations of products for compliance with applicable standards.
  • Conduct assessments against the IEC 62443 family and related standards.
  • Perform comprehensive compliance audits on clients' IT products and systems, identifying potential risks.
  • Reassess third-party security practices and protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive reports of assessment findings, risk descriptions, impact analysis, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay updated on the latest IT trends, security standards, and regulatory requirements related to the sector.
  • Interpret technical instructions in various forms and make independent technical decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a directly related field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with effective prioritization and organization skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer-focused and quality-driven.
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate, approximately 15%.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or software engineering.
  • Prior project management experience.
  • Familiarity with IT security regulations and standards such as IEC 62443, IEC TR 60601-4-5, IEC 81001-5-1, ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Professional designations and certifications such as CISA, CISSP, OSCP, CEH, SANS.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity standards and regulatory requirements for IIoT and Medical Devices.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining complex security risks to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
