About the position

The Project Engineer at Western Partitions, Inc. (WPI) plays a crucial role in assisting the Project Manager with the setup, management, and closeout of construction projects. This position involves planning, scheduling, and executing project activities to ensure successful project completion while adhering to WPI's policies and safety programs. The Project Engineer will be responsible for reviewing contracts, managing procurement, preparing documentation, and tracking project progress and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager with project setup, management, and closeout.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute project activities throughout each phase to completion.
  • Understand and comply with WPI policies, procedures, and corporate safety program.
  • Review contract language, scope of work, and special provisions in the contract.
  • Assist with the buyout and procurement of material, subcontractor, and engineering quotes.
  • Prepare RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Support and visit assigned job sites and participate in job meetings as required.
  • Price change requests and update the budget promptly.
  • Prepare, review, and report weekly productions.
  • Review the weekly job cost report with the project Foreman and team.
  • Prepare billings and approve invoices for payment.
  • Track progress and spending, ensuring the work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Support the implementation of job schedules.
  • Coordinate warranties, O&Ms, and closeout on projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to diagnose and process key information and recognize critical areas on the job that could impact profitability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask, think critically, and problem-solve.
  • Ability to learn new job skills and apply them effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on assignments.
  • Strong organizational and computer use skills; high level of competency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with commercial grade doors, frames, and hardware.
  • Local to office is preferred.
