About the position

The Project Engineer - Ecological Restoration will be a key member of the One Water team, supporting clients across the northeast. This role involves working on habitat restoration and community resilience projects, focusing on innovative and cost-effective solutions from concept to construction. The position offers a hybrid remote work environment and flexible Fridays during the summer.

Responsibilities

• Participate in site planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services for restoration projects.
• Perform field work including collecting field measurements, sediment probing or sampling, flow data collection, geotechnical boring observation, and dam inspection.
• Assist with dam repair and dredging projects as needed.
• Undertake design using AutoCAD and computer modeling.
• Prepare technical specifications and cost estimates, reports, and correspondence.
• Conduct construction observation, shop drawing and submittal review, and create record drawings.
• Assist with business development for new projects and clients.

Requirements

• At least four years of consulting engineering experience in the water industry.
• A BS degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or a related field is required; an MS degree is preferred.
• PE license or the ability to obtain one within the next 6 months.
• At least three years of experience working on the design of ecological restoration projects.
• Experience using AutoCAD and familiarity with modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, PeakFQ, and HydroCAD, as well as GIS.

Nice-to-haves

• Expertise in hydrology and hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering design, wetland science, or fluvial geomorphology.
