About the position

The Electrical & Controls Engineer position at ANDRITZ involves designing, developing, and delivering innovative electrical and control engineering projects aimed at enhancing plant productivity, reliability, and sustainability for North American customers. The role requires collaboration with customers and team members to address operational challenges and support system upgrades, while also ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers and coworkers to solve operational challenges and support system upgrade projects.
  • Audit industrial facilities and develop preliminary engineering designs and estimates for electrical and control system upgrades.
  • Design industrial LV and MV electrical power systems, including equipment specifications, motor control and grounding systems, cable and raceway sizing and layouts, and electrical room design.
  • Prepare and evaluate tender and construction packages, including electrical and instrumentation drawings, installation specifications, and other supporting documentation.
  • Complete electrical control and instrumentation system design including P&ID drawings, control system and network architecture, and instrumentation systems.
  • Design control strategies to optimize performance, and program and configure DCS and PLC/HMI applications.
  • Perform system checkout, testing, and commissioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in electrical or automation engineering.
  • Experience in industrial automation engineering is an asset.
  • Experience in pulp & paper, mining, and/or chemical industries is an asset.
  • Resourceful, self-managed, and goal-driven, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills (English).
  • Registered as a P.E. in Georgia is an asset.
  • Practical knowledge of North American standards.
  • Legally entitled to work in the US.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 5-20%).

  • Consulting engineering experience.
  • Site audit, commissioning, construction, and start-up experience.
