About the position

The Project Engineer - Electrical Safety at Intertek is responsible for conducting testing and evaluation of various electrical products to ensure compliance with U.S., Canadian, and international safety standards. This role involves mentoring junior staff, communicating with clients, and providing sales support while working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the equipment under test (EUT).
• Perform testing of products in accordance with standards, including core tests such as rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, and more.
• Mentor less senior technical personnel.
• Supply information for quotes including project length, site needs, rental equipment, samples, and applicable standards.
• Set up and operate standard test equipment including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and more.
• Follow sample handling procedures, ensuring proper logging and packaging for shipment.
• Provide sales support by attending client visits and communicating project status and test results to clients and management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a directly related field.
• Prior project management experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities.
• Detail-oriented with effective time management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer-focused and quality-driven.
• Ability to travel up to 50% as business needs dictate.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards such as ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC.
