About the position

The Project Engineer - Electrical is responsible for managing electrical engineering projects from inception to completion, including estimating, proposal submission, construction, and start-up phases. This role focuses on projects related to manufacturing plants, ensuring safety, quality, and process optimization while improving productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scopes and estimate equipment, installations, and engineering costs.
  • Prepare project schedules for Appropriation Requests.
  • Complete all project assignments within established scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Design and oversee the preparation of construction drawing packages for capital projects.
  • Oversee field construction activities and project start-ups.
  • Specify and procure equipment and engineering and construction services.
  • Assist existing facilities with maintenance, repair, and improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • HMI/PLC programming and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with National Electrical Code and its application.
  • Ability to design power and motor circuits.
  • Knowledge of transformers, switchgear, and major power components and their specifications.
  • Understanding of utility interface with customer power systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and networking architecture.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Experience in wallboard or equivalent manufacturing plant and process is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AC variable speed drives and their specifications.
  • Knowledge of Motor Control Centers and their specifications.
  • Ability to specify and set up field instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with ARC Flash requirements and NFPA-70 is a plus.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in wallboard or equivalent manufacturing plant and process.
  • Familiarity with electrical system coordination studies and their interpretation.
