About the position
In this role, you'll collaborate directly with clients to evaluate fire detection and alarm devices and ensure safety standards are met. You'll take ownership of projects-defining scope, planning investigations, and overseeing testing, both in the lab and on-site. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week at our customer site (Tampa, Florida).
Responsibilities
- Evaluate fire detection and alarm devices and communicate project status, issues, and results.
- Address and resolve client concerns, promoting UL services.
- Define project scope, specifications, and timelines.
- Conduct and witness tests, coordinate administrative tasks, and prepare reports.
- Serve as Project Handler or Reviewer when assigned.
- Provide technical assistance on inspections and follow-up services.
- Establish test programs, resolve engineering issues, and notify clients of compliance concerns.
- Develop special test methods and propose new/revised UL requirements.
- Integrate improvement practices and support lab and field staff.
- Represent UL at industry events and maintain UL Code of Conduct standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 5-10 years working with commercial or residential fire detection devices or alarm systems.
- Product certification experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
