About the position

The Project Engineer position at Lockheed Martin Space offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program, which has been pivotal in supporting the Navy's strategic defense mission for over 60 years. As a Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the Ground and Flight Test Integrated Product Team (IPT), where you will assist in the planning and execution of various engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that projects are completed on schedule and in accordance with established procedures and work plans. You will coordinate the planning, organizing, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within your assigned area of responsibility, ensuring that engineering efforts are well-coordinated across the program and with suppliers. Additionally, you will support ad hoc tasking from Program Technical Leaders, contributing to the overall success of the program. Responsibilities

  • Support the Ground and Flight Test Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead in planning and execution of work scope and Program execution
  • Ensure that projects are completed on schedule following established procedures, schedules, and work plans
  • Coordinate the planning, organizing, control, integration, and completion of Engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility
  • Ensure Engineering is coordinated across Program and suppliers
  • Support Ad hoc tasking by Program Technical Leaders

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
  • Demonstrated ability to work with technical leads to manage cost, schedule, or technical scope
  • Knowledge of program lifecycle and how early achievements may drive future costs
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Final Secret security clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in one or more flight science disciplines (Aerodynamics, Thermodynamics, Mass Properties, Loads & Dynamics, Stress, etc.)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience throughout engineering lifecycle (system definition, design, build, test and operational deployment)
  • Positive demeanor, accountable and responsible, able to work in a team-focused, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve complex problems
  • Missile or space segment design and test experience with one or more subsystems or fields outside of Systems Engineering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, with the ability to lead multi-functional teams and build consensus among peers
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance
