The Project Engineer - Furniture role at UL Solutions involves managing and overseeing various projects related to furniture testing, inspection, and certification. Responsibilities

  • Independently determines project scope and develops a preliminary plan of investigation.
  • Initiates communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services.
  • Follows up on contacts from clients and discusses technical issues.
  • Acts to address client concerns and resolve issues.
  • Provides technical assistance to clients regarding product inspection and follow-up services.
  • Establishes appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information.
  • Notifies clients of any compliance issues with UL requirements.
  • Coordinates laboratory activities and schedules work of technicians.
  • Serves as Project Handler of record and may sign as Reviewer of record.
  • Communicates project status and results to clients through reports.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts into all aspects of the job.
  • Resolves engineering issues associated with Variation Notices.
  • Proposes development of new UL requirements and develops special test methods.
  • May represent UL at industry-related functions and provide direction as a Primary Designated Engineer.
  • May train office, field, and/or laboratory staff.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar required.
  • 5-8 years of experience in the Furniture or Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) industries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills.
