About the position

As a Project Engineer in the Heavy Civil sector, you will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of various infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will encompass material procurement and expediting, assisting in work planning for self-perform and work activities, and providing oversight and mentoring to engineering staff. You will also be involved in project close-out activities, which include coordinating documentation related to deficiencies, warranties, maintenance, and final payments. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget, while maintaining the highest quality standards. In addition to project planning, you will assist with the preparation and maintenance of the project schedule and costing system. This will involve monitoring and tracking equipment and resources, as well as labor productivity for self-perform work activities. You will be responsible for project document controls and procedures, which include coordinating and reviewing drawings, submissions, specifications, changes, and document control. Change management will also be a key aspect of your role, as you will be responsible for setting up, issuing documentation, pricing, and managing changes throughout the project lifecycle. Subcontract management will be another critical responsibility, where you will define the scope of work, write subcontracts, answer inquiries, monitor progress, and track and process back charges. Additionally, you will handle project administration tasks, including preparing and tracking progress claims and estimates. Your ability to manage these various aspects of project engineering will contribute significantly to the success of our projects and the satisfaction of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Project planning and execution including material procurement and expediting.
  • Assisting in work planning for self-perform and work activities.
  • Oversight and mentoring of engineering staff.
  • Coordinating project close-out documentation including deficiencies, warranties, maintenance, and final payments.
  • Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the project schedule and costing system.
  • Monitoring and tracking of equipment and resources for project cost control.
  • Labor productivity monitoring for self-perform work activities.
  • Coordinating and reviewing project documents including drawings, submissions, specifications, and changes.
  • Managing change documentation, pricing, and administration.
  • Defining scope of work and writing subcontracts for subcontract management.
  • Monitoring progress and tracking back charges for subcontracted work.
  • Preparing and tracking progress claims and estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management or comparable.
  • Experience with CMAR work.
  • Experience with wet utilities.
  • Familiarity with project document controls.
  • Experience in wastewater projects is a huge plus.
