About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our team, specializing in heavy civil projects. With over 44 years of experience in building municipal infrastructure, our company is well-established and has a strong presence in the industry. Based in Springville, Utah, we operate multiple satellite offices across Salt Lake County, Payson, and St. George. Our workforce includes 35 office employees and 140 field employees, equipped with various specialized crews for pipelines, mechanical work, concrete, and metal fabrication. As a Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of project documentation in a timely and quality manner. This includes reading and evaluating drawings and specifications, completing submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), pay applications, potential change orders, and permits. You will utilize AutoCAD for reviewing drawings and Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, for managing data and updating documents. Your understanding of job cost phasing will be essential for effective communication with site staff. In addition to documentation, you will be responsible for maintaining the project schedule. This involves updating all parties involved, monitoring field worker timecards using KeyStyle, and creating/updating diverse project schedules with P6. You will need to understand critical paths and contract timelines, attend project meetings with a prepared schedule, and create a three-week look-ahead schedule while ensuring the project stays within budget and phases. Furthermore, you will provide timely support to the Project Manager (PM) as assigned. This includes maintaining communication with the owner representative, completing SWPPP inspections, submitting documentation, and coordinating with utility companies and Blue Stakes. Your role will also involve preparing traffic control and mobilization plans, as well as collecting the necessary permits for project execution.

Requirements

  • 1 or more years in a receptionist/administrative position
  • 1 or more years in a construction environment preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • 2+ years experience
