About the position

The Project Engineer I role at Ampcus, Inc. is focused on supporting the Customer Project Delivery department to enhance energy efficiency and promote new energy technologies in York State. This position involves collaborating with customers to develop projects aimed at reducing energy consumption through various energy efficiency measures.

Responsibilities

  • Represent at customer meetings, design meetings, contractor walk-throughs, and presentations to customers.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, estimates, and cost analyses for feasibility/audit reports.
  • Manage and implement multiple energy conservation projects concurrently, including lighting, HVAC, controls, wastewater treatment, and building envelope projects.
  • Develop customer installation commitment documents, including cost recovery agreements and economic analyses.
  • Track and prepare status reports for all assigned projects.
  • Evaluate project scope, review feasibility reports, and make presentations and recommendations.
  • Develop and verify engineering, labor, and material bid specifications provided by staff and implementation contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with design, code, licensing, and operating and maintenance requirements.
  • Review project activities for technical content, accuracy, cost control, and schedule.
  • Solve problems related to customer bill savings, design, and construction issues.
  • Support senior engineers in negotiating change orders to construction and services contracts.
  • Develop and verify financial and billing documentation related to savings calculations.
  • Coordinate activities between contractors, consultants, equipment vendors, and customers for project quality assurance.
  • Comply with hazardous material handling, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Stay updated on technological developments and project input parameters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of building mechanical/electrical systems and related codes.
  • Technical knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze existing conditions and address issues related to contracts and equipment design.
  • Ability to analyze environmental concerns and develop cost-effective engineering solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer license is preferred.
  • Project management experience.
  • Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional Certification (PMPC) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Oracle Primavera, and Microsoft Teams.
