About the position

As a Project Engineer I at Power Technique North America LLC, you will play a crucial role in the development of new products, ensuring they meet performance and investment return objectives. Your engineering skills will be utilized to create impactful products while leading project teams and collaborating with various stakeholders. This position emphasizes quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness in product development, following a structured process from concept to product.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams on collaboration activities for product development initiatives.
  • Guide and lead part designers to achieve project goals.
  • Follow the Concept to Product (C to P) gated new product development process.
  • Create and maintain 3D master assembly models using Inventor & Autodesk Vault.
  • Create and maintain detailed 2D component drawings with required information.
  • Develop and maintain product bills of material related to projects.
  • Identify critical assembly operations and provide necessary assembly torqueing information.
  • Create and maintain engineering instructions for electrical panels and system test reports.
  • Assemble prototypes for products in development as necessary.
  • Initiate and support the development of product documentation including instruction books and spare parts books.
  • Maintain project-related information for NPD projects, including project timing and risk assessments.
  • Calculate product costs monthly to maintain targets and monitor project budgets.
  • Perform numerical calculations supporting design integrity and assist with digital tools like FEA and CFD analysis.
  • Conduct Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) for product safety and integrity.
  • Strive to maintain a First Time Right (FTR) metric of greater than 90%.
  • Initiate Design Notifications (DN) as required and prepare/check drawings accordingly.
  • Provide technical expertise to marketing and technical service areas and interact with purchasing to monitor costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or product design required; master's degree is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience as an Engineer in a manufacturing or R&D design center.
  • Experience leading project teams for new product development is required.
  • Experience in a design for manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Prior experience in rotating machinery development is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with medical equipment is a definite plus.
  • Familiarity with electrical or compressed air systems is preferred.
  • Excellent 3D modeling skills are required.
  • Strong command of 2D drawing detailing, including dimensioning and tolerancing techniques.
  • Good command of English is required; other languages are a plus.
  • Proficiency in software such as MS Office (including MS Project) and BPCS (AS/400).
  • Committed to accuracy and detail with a proven track record of positive results.
  • Customer-oriented with good communication skills.
